Peter writes a letter to Amy inviting her to his party. He wonders what his friends will think of him inviting a girl. As Peter walks to the letterbox “dark clouds raced across [the sky] like wild horses.” The wind tears the envelope out of his hand. Peter chases it but he can’t catch it. The letter flies in the air and as it comes down Peter sees Amy about to catch it. “In his great hurry, Peter bumped into Amy. He caught the letter before she could see it was for her.” As he posts the letter he sees Amy crying as she runs off. During his party, he worries Amy won’t come. As he is about the blow out the candles on his Amy walks in and tells him to make a wish.
