Adventure Book List

Picture Books & Resources

Never forget that life can only be nobly inspired and rightly lived if you take it bravely and gallantly, as a splendid adventure in which you are setting out into an unknown country, to face many a danger, to meet many a joy, to find many a comrade, to win and lose many a battle.

Annie Besant

Adventure stories are exciting, relatable and emotional. The reader follows brave characters journeying through dangerous and surprising situations, often experiencing reversals of fortune along the way. As the tension and excitement builds, characters overcome all sorts of adversity. Adventure stories stimulate imagination, inspiring the reader to be more adventurous in their own play and enjoy the world around them. Not only does adventurous play encourage children to use their imagination but also to ask questions and problem solve. Adventurous play with other children promotes communication, taking turns and negotiations.
