Du Iz Tak? by Carson Ellis
Du Iz Tak? by Carson Ellis is a fun picture book to promote communication, a sense of community and the passing of seasons.
Carson Ellis creates a new language to tell the story of a community of insects following the process of a new, green shoot. “Du iz tak?” ask clothed beetles, dragonflies and pill bugs. A snail lends them a ‘ribble’ so the insects can climb the stalk and they build homes on its branches.
Danger is around the corner as a spider makes its home on the plant and a huge bird causes damage when it descends on the plant. The shoot grows into a beautiful flower, but as the seasons change the flower wilts in the cold weather and the insects say goodbye to their home.
