After a young clown bounces from a train, a reluctant farmer saves him. This wordless picture book focuses on the facial features of the two characters, a seemingly grumpy, lonely farmer and a joyful clown. It is only when the farmer cleans off the clown’s makeup we see a scared child. 
A growing friendship also shows a more relaxed farmer, attempting to cheer the child up. As the train reappears the farmer returns the clown to his family through their faces make it clear they will miss each other.
