Illustrator: Sanjay Patel
Publisher: Chronicle Books (2015)
ISBN: 9781452145563

Sanjay Patel tells the story of how Ganesha came to write the Hindu poem, Mahabharata. It all starts with Ganesha’s sweet tooth and his desire to eat “the super jumbo jawbreaker laddoo.” When he bites down on the jumbo sweet his tusk breaks off causing embarrassment at his lopsided face. Angry, he throws the broken tusk at the moon, but it lands on the poet Vyasa. He asks Ganesha to use the tusk to write a 100,000 verse poem that “all the pens in the world would break before it is done.”
