Patience Book List & Resources
We all know young children struggle with patience! The picture books in the patience book list below illustrate restraint, persistence, endurance and how things are worth waiting for. Teachers will especially see in their classroom that some children are naturally more patient than others. We also see this with the adults we surround ourselves with.
You can help children become more patient with a few different strategies. Put them in situations where they have to take turns or wait for something. Remember, they will learn from your behaviour. If you show impatience your child will most likely demonstrate this too. Also, remember to praise them for any patient behaviour.

The practice of patience guards us against losing our presence of mind. It enables us to remain undisturbed, even when the situation is really difficult. It gives us a certain amount of inner peace, which allows us some self-control, so that we can choose to respond to situations in an appropriate and compassionate manner, rather than being driven by our disturbing emotions.
