“Every year Mom and I plant a rainbow.” They plant bulbs in the garden – orange tiger lilies, red tulips, yellow daffodils, blue hyacinths and purple crocuses, among others. In the winter they buy seeds from a catalogue to plant alongside the bulbs. And in the spring they watch the shoots peak out from the ground until they are in full bloom. “All summer long we pick them and bring them home. And when summer is over we know we can grow our rainbow again next year.”
