The Dog That Ate the World

Title: The Dog That Ate the World
Author: Sandra Dieckmann
Illustrator: Sandra Dieckmann
Publisher: Flying Eye Books (2018)
ISBN: 9781911171607

Down in the valley, the animals live in harmony. “The sound of their play and their laughter drifted peacefully through the trees… until one day, the dog appeared.” The dog’s insatiable hunger turned the animals community upside down. He consumed whatever he wanted, mountains, trees, plants and drank the lake dry. He grew bigger and bigger. The fox’s attempt to calm the dog resulted in being swallowed, followed by three bunnies. The other animals got together. “Enough was enough, everyone agreed. Together they would restore the peace!” Unfortunately, they were swallowed too. Inside the dog, the animals made the best of the situation.

“Together they talked, they worked and hope began to blossom in every heart as life went on.” The dog continued to eat and soon consumed the world around him leading to the animals freedom. “Down in the valley, the wind whistled peacefully through the trees again.”
