“And yet, for as long as Fox could remember, he would wake at night to the cool, calm light of Star.” The light of a star helps a lonely Fox forage for beetles, chase rabbits, dance in the rain’s tapping beat. “All of Fox’s happiness was bound to the flickering light of Star”, but one day, Star isn’t there and everything changes. The forest was cold and dark, but Fox was sure Star would return. Fox sets out to find it. He asks the thorns, a colony of rabbits, and the tall trees at the edge of the forest “Have you seen my Star?” But they couldn’t help. Fox found himself beyond the forest in unfamiliar territory and he fell asleep. He awakes and looks up to the sky. “Fox could not believe there were so many stars! His heart was full of happiness. He knew somewhere out there was a star that once was his.”
