A prince wants to marry and travels the world to look for the perfect bride. “He met many princesses, but it was difficult to tell whether they were real ones.” He returns home disappointed as none of the princesses were just right. During a terrible storm, there was a loud knock on the door. The door flung open to reveal a princess. “But, goodness gracious! What a sight the rain and wind had made her look.” The Queen tested if the princess was real by placing a pea under forty mattresses. In the morning the King and Queen asked how she had slept. After her uncomfortable night, the delighted royal couple knew she was real as “nobody but a real princess could be as sensitive as that.” The princess and prince marry, and the pea became a museum exhibit.
