A paper boat happily floats on a pond. The other animals are dubious when the paper boat announces it is a real boat, and a duck informs him that proper boats sail on the ocean. This inspires the paper boat, “I want to sail there too, just like a boat… So long! I’m going to the ocean.” It floats down a stream and into a river asking for directions but gets no help until a tugboat offers to take the paper boat to the harbour where he follows a fishing trawler out into the wide ocean. A storm causes the paper boat to sink deep to the bottom of the ocean where it is sure it will stay for the rest of its life. Then a scuba diver scoops up the boat and passes it onto a ship captain full of admiration for this little boat. “You’ve sailed so far! A true seafarer! A real boat!” He calls the boat Intrepid and displays him proudly in his cabin.
