Why I Created TAB
I’m Kirsten, a former elementary teacher and teacher-librarian and the person behind Children’s Library Lady.
I’ve spent years collecting picture books for read-alouds, literacy lessons, classroom discussions and book lists. I also know how easily a good recommendation disappears into an inbox, screenshot folder or notebook.
I created the TAB Database to give teachers one place to keep the titles they want to return to.

Yes. Sign up and I’ll email you a link to the free There’s a Book for That Database. You can then make your own editable copy.
The TAB Database is an Airtable database for saving picture book recommendations. You can add titles, Teaching Topics, notes and other details, then search or filter your collection when you need a book for a read-aloud, lesson, display or classroom discussion.
You can open and look through the shared database using the link I send you. Airtable may ask you to sign in or create a free account when you make your own editable copy.
Yes. The example books are there to show you how the database works. Your copy is for the recommendations and picture books you want to remember, wherever you found them.
Yes. Once you’ve made your own copy, you can change the Teaching Topics, add or remove fields and adapt the database around the information you want to keep. Your changes won’t affect the original version.
No. Add the details that will help you find or use the book later. For one title, that might only be the title, two Teaching Topics and a quick note about why you saved it.
You can open and use the database on a phone or tablet, but there’s less space to see the fields. If Airtable is new to you, making your copy and setting it up will be easier on a desktop or laptop.
