“Once upon a northern night, while you lay sleeping, wrapped in a downy blanket, I painted you a picture.” The book, in the form of a poem, describes the beauty of a northern winter night as a boy sleeps soundly in his bed. The boy’s parent (and narrator) describes the snowfall, the wild animals in the garden and the stars in the clear night sky. The parent ends the poem as they began, adding “I had the moon gently kiss you and the wind whisper … I love you.”
