She made wolf sounds and did strange things.” Vanessa comforts her but nothing works. “The whole house sank. Up became down. Bright became dim. Glad became gloom.” Virginia tells her sister about Bloomsbury, an imaginary world of flowers, birds and magic which Vanessa recreates on their bedroom walls.
